 Private Purpose includes visiting to find out more about Australia, tourism, recreation, meet friends and relatives. It is not possible to work in Australia on these visas.

Short Term Business Purpose includes attending educational or business related meetings, seminars, conventions, conferences, or networking, negotiations or exploring business opportunities, doing informal studies or training. Short-term work is only permitted in strictly limited circumstances.

 Working Holiday arrangements are possible for young people.

There is work permission within limits and a permission to study up to 4 months.  Extendable or second grant if worked in regional areas in particular occupations.

Once in a lifetime working holiday visa for 1 year for those under 31 years of age and no dependents.

Subclass 462 Work and Holiday.

There is an addition requirement of a specific education level, language ability and home country government support for some.

 When you are located in Australia now:

1. Further applications, can be made (within 2 weeks of expiry) for a subclass 676 visa to extend your stay. But you cannot if the original visit visa had an 8503 condition (no further stay). You cannot apply while in Australia for any visa if previously, while in Australia on a bridging visa in, you had applied for and been refused an other kind of visa application. (Section 48 bar.)

 2. Applications can be made for the subclass 676 and 679 visas while the applicant is present in Australia on another visa type. Note that the electronically travel stored authorities, such as the subclass 651 or 976, can only be applied for when outside Australia.

Business people in particular may need extensive advice on strategies not necessarily accommodated within the business framework and assistance with more tangible visa entitlements.  Business and employment constraints on business visit visas are considerable and the employer sanction legislation is in place for businesses collaborating with visitors in breach.
